Terms of service

LOCALQ is operated by MHride Ltd, Medicine Hat, Alberta ("we"). By using the apps you agree to these terms. Questions: support@mhride.ca.

What we do

We connect customers with independent local contractors, and handle booking, payment and support. Contractors do the work and are responsible for it. They are not our employees.

Your account

You sign in with a code sent to your phone. Keep your phone secure, give true details, and use the service only for lawful purposes. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.

Prices and payment

• You see an estimate or a contractor's bid before you choose. Applicable tax is added.
• When a contractor is chosen, or 24 hours before a scheduled job, we place a hold on your card. The hold is not a charge.
• You are charged when you approve the proof of work, or automatically 24 hours after it is submitted if you do nothing.
• Extra work needs your approval in the app before it is added.
• Tips are optional and go to the contractor.

Cancelling

Cancelling while we are still searching costs nothing. After that, a fee may apply, depending on how close the job is and whether the contractor is on the way. The app shows the fee before you confirm.

Problems with a job

Report a problem in the app within 72 hours of completion. Automatic approval pauses while we review the proof. We may ask the contractor to redo the work, give account credit, or refund, as the case warrants.

Contractors

Contractors must keep their identity, insurance and vehicle documents valid, do the work agreed, and record the required proof. We keep a commission shown in the contractor app, and pay out what is owed after a short holding period. Disputes can reduce earnings.

Limits

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for the contractor's work beyond the amount paid for the job. Nothing here limits rights you have under Alberta consumer protection law.

Law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and of Canada. If they change in a way that matters to you, we will tell you in the app.
